STR Shopping List: Bedding

There’s nothing better than a great night sleep, especially when you’re traveling. Aside from the fact that travelers are burdened with sleep troubles caused by jet lag, travel fatigue, and an unfamiliar environment, the best thing we can do for guests is give them all the coziness in a bedroom to help them get some lovely Z’s.

We’ve perfected the craft of a perfect short-term rental (STR) bedroom by selecting key pieces that fit our overall goals. Choosing bedding from your STR is different from your personal home, and should follow a different set of guidelines to help you choose whether or not it’s the right fit. Some of the key parameters include:

  • Durability: These pieces will be used & washed at a higher volume than normal wear & tear.

  • Comfort: Are they soft, comfortable, and not at risk of sensory issues for most guests?

  • Cleanability: The material needs to be stain-resilient. And not just because it’s a dark color.

  • Cost: It should be within budget to purchase and maintain for your property.

  • Availability: Generally bedding (aside from mattresses and pillows) should have x2-3 in your house inventory, and will need to be stocked up and backfilled in case they get worn out. Don’t buy something you can’t backfill because it’s backordered.

Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what our guests have said about our bedding:

So it’s confirmed: when it comes to bedrooms, we know what’s up. And we’re sharing our secrets! Below is a round-up of our guest favorite items that we keep stocked at our listings.

Favorite Mattress: Tuft & Needle

Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress

This mattress is a fan favorite, and for good reason. Advanced cooling technology in a mattress is a must for short-term rentals in hot climates. This mattress offers a balance between soft and firm, accommodating various sleep preferences, and is built to resist sagging and withstand frequent use. Choosing a mattress that maintains its quality over time not only ensures guest comfort but also keeps cost efficient since you won’t be replacing it over and over. Opting for one that integrates cooling, comfort, and durability is our best bet with mattresses.

Favorite Pillows: Beckham Hotel

Beckham Hotel Collection Bed Pillows

From back sleepers to side sleepers, everyone has a different preference on how they prefer to sleep. That means your pillows need to be able to match a variety of preferences by staying as hybrid as possible. The Beckham Hotel Collection pillows are our #1 choice for their hybrid nature - they’re thick enough to appeal to our back sleepers, without cranking the neck on a stomach sleeper.

A safe bet is to get each bed two sets of pillows - one thicker and one thinner - to allow guests the option for their liking. Beckham proves to be a fan favorite, but the below options are close contenders.

Honorable Mentions: Jollyvogue, Casper, Utopia

Jollyvogue Pillows

Casper Sleep Essential

Utopia Hotel Quality Pillows

Favorite Bed Sheets: CGK Unlimited

CGK Unlimited

These sheets are so good. Soft, durable and affordable, these sheets give guests a cozy snoozing experience similar to sleeping in clouds. They don’t pill, and they are relatively easy to get stains out. The price point is an added bonus, making it easy to stock up and replace when needed.

White gets a bad reputation, but these sheets are quite durable with stain removal. Plus, white sheets show quicker when a product needs to be swapped, and shows guests the true cleanliness of a property. Just like your favorite hotels - we’re team white sheets over here!

Additional Must-Haves
